Hi, Kyla: This is a female Greater Anglewing Katydid, Microcentrum rhombifolium, as far as I can tell. A male would have modifications to the wings near the "shoulder," as that is how it "sings." There may be another species of Microcentrum in your area, I'm not sure. Yes, she eats leaves, but katydids do not have *near* the appetite that caterpillars do! Just release her, she will do no damage of any magnitude. Thanks for sharing your discovery!
