i actually took this picture about a year ago, and it's been bugging me ever since. i thought i could find the answer on google but i haven't yet. unfortunately i didn't get a clear picture of it. it flew (or jumped) away before i could take a second picture of it. i almost didn't think it was a real bug when i first saw it. i live in the netherlands.
just as a side note, i noticed in some comments that some people have had trouble posting images. on my tablet just now i didn't see the option to post a picture until i logged in.
Hi: Took a little digging because I am not an expert on much of anything outside of North America, but I have an answer for you! This beautiful brown-and-yellow, blue-banded insect is a moth: Oecophora bractella, and it is apparently very uncommon, if not rather rare.
thank you so much. i meant to reply here earlier. glad to finally know what that was! i never would have guessed it was a moth. it seems they're not so rare here. i was reading on another site about where they've been spotted in the netherlands... unfortunately i misplaced the link.
